About the event
Join us for a free, introductory Safe Space Facilitation Training designed for Durham community members who want to support healing circles and emotionally safe environments across the city. This two-hour virtual workshop offers a foundational understanding of trauma-informed facilitation, the purpose of emotional “masks,” and how to help individuals and communities feel grounded, seen, and supported.
This training is ideal for people already interested in community healing work, including volunteers, city staff, and those in roles where vicarious trauma is common. Through guided discussion and gentle somatic concepts, participants will explore why safe spaces matter, how masking develops as a survival tool, and how to build safety before, during, and after holding space for others.
No prior experience is required—just a genuine interest and willingness to learn. A brief feedback survey will be completed during the last five minutes of the workshop.
